Welcome to Petersen Elementary

 

 

Petersen Elementary School, located in the South Division of Houston ISD was established in 1960 and named in honor of Henry A. Petersen, a prominent figure in the Houston Independent School District (HISD). Petersen, a surgeon and professor at Baylor College of Medicine, served for 23 years on the HISD Board of Education. The school is located in central southwest Houston, about five miles southeast of Reliant Center. 

 

  • 1960:Petersen Elementary School was founded and opened its doors. 

  • Henry A. Petersen: The school was named in his honor due to his long and dedicated service on the HISD Board of Education. 

  • Location: The school is situated in a central southwest Houston neighborhood, about five miles from Reliant Center. 

  • Current Status: As of the 2024-2025 school year, Petersen Elementary serves 358 students in grades Pre-K through 5.
